You still working there Rick? Looks like a good idea i suppose, but won't the computer lack all of the great software that comes with windows?

I don't know how quickly this will catch on, or how well it will work considering not many people know how to use Linux as a primary os.

Scott McNealy, president, CEO and chairman of Sun, went beyond hints during his keynote address today at the LinuxWorld Conference & Expoconference in San Francisco.

Sun could potentially roll out its Sun Linux version of Linux for workstations or team with a PC maker to distribute the operating system, Kusnetzky said. Wal-Mart Stores Inc., for example, has started selling computers with the Lindows operating system preinstalled.

Sun could tempt Linux developers to do their software design work on a workstation running Sun Linux.

McNealy championed the Wal-Mart model, while taking a shot at competitor Dell Computer Corp.

"Don't go to Dell and buy a Windows PC," he said. "Go to Wal-Mart; you will get just as much technical support."
