The Autodesk 3ds Max application appears to be more favorable to processors with greater raw clock speed, rather than more cores. This is evident when looking at the Core 2 Duo E8400 result. The Phenom X3 processor scaled very well, giving up very little performance when compared to the Phenom X4s.

The Autodesk Maya test also looks to favor processors with high clock speeds, as the E8400 once again takes the lead. Though this time the Phenom processors do very well, as the X4 and even the X3 8750 was able to defeat the Core 2 Quad Q6600. The second test appears to be more aware of the extra cores, which placed the X4 and even the X3 8750 ahead of the E8400.
