In a move that anyone who followed the company saw coming, Transmeta has finally found itself at the end of an acquisition. The intellectual property firm today announced it has reached an acquisition agreement with Novafora for around $255.6 million in cash, with no particular mention as to what exactly the plans post-acquisition are. One thing is clear, Transmeta will no longer be able to enter licensing agreements with other companies as they wish.

The last big deal that Transmeta will be pulling off is a patent licensing agreement with AMD, which will see the chip maker return a sizable amount of Transmeta stock to the company. Few other details are mentioned, with no information on how this will impact existing licensing deals that the company has with Nvidia and others.
