New Xbox 360 Experience to arrive next month
Microsoft’s new Xbox Experience, the upcoming dashboard system that’s centered on an intuitive graphical interface and an avatar motif, now has a set date for its launch. Speaking at the Tokyo Game Show yesterday, Microsoft revealed that the revamped interface will officially go live on November 19. The update will roll out in 26 different countries and 19 different languages simultaneously.

Apart from a major visual overhaul meant to make things easier to navigate, the update will allow players to create animated avatars, jump into a “LIVE Party” with up to seven friends, install games to the hard drive for faster load times, and stream over 10,000 movies and TV shows from Netflix directly to their 360s. Not so keen on the avatars, I mean I have a Wii for that kind of stuff. But the faster load times seem better. Especially with games like the Godfather and ProStreet. |
| InsaneVr6 on October 9, 2008 3:57 PM | I dont really know how i feel about this. I own all the new major systems and now i feel that xbox360 just decided to copy everyone else. Avatars? come on, thats a Wii thing, and when i think of Wii, i think of crappy animation and boring. Installing games to the harddrive for better load times? come on, thats all PS3 baby. (yes its an awesome feature and i am glad that it will be part of it, but thats why i bought a PS3...for fast, blu-ray, better than xbox gaming. And even the new menu's, that shouts PS3 aswell.
Every game system was unique in its menu's and interface's, and now they wont be. Wii = Avatar Xbox = Blades interface PS3 = X axis menu's with Y axis sub-menu's Like i said not sure how i feel about this yet but i am sure about one thing. The new features added in are an outstanding idea and i am looking foreward to using them Nov. 19. The looks? well...they should have at least upgraded the blades interface. The whole new avatar thing kinda ruined it all in my opinion. It doesnt have the same awesome xbox360 experience that the Gamertag (even though they are still there) name did. |
| richardw9 on October 10, 2008 1:51 AM | I'm not sure how i feel about downloading games to my hard drive, most 360 games are fast enough already so i hope its optional to download because i can see my 20gb hard drive getting full quite quickly |

You guys are so spoiled, in my day we were happy with games with 2 colors. Perspective.... 8) I don't own any of the big 3 latest consoles, and don't plan to, ever again, the PC just has too much of an edge, IMHO, and I'll always own one of those. |
| aolish on October 10, 2008 9:36 AM | I'm getting a 360 very soon, hopefully the 60GB version. Can't wait for this awesome new wii update! lol Despite this new update being an obvious blatant rip off of the wii. Its really to bad they don't give users the option to stick with the old blade UI or the new wii UI. |
